All the way up…

What did you want to be when you grew up? A vet, an actor, an astronaut?

Whatever it was, if you’d had the chance to have a go at your chosen career while you were still at junior school, it’s likely you would have been delighted.

One young Emirati boy who dreams of being a pilot just had that exact experience, and it’s safe to say he was pretty pleased.

Zayed, who’s 11 years old, got the chance to sit in the pilot’s seat thanks to Air Arabia.

The Sharjah airline invited him along to celebrate the Year of Zayed, which marks 100 years since the birth of the founding father of the Emirates, HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Young Zayed got the chance to try out a flight simulator, go on board an Air Arabia plane, and visit their headquarters.

The airline posted a video of his adventures to Facebook:

…Which is one of the cutest things we’ve seen so far in 2018. Zayed is excited, a little nervous, and pays very close attention to the Air Arabia staff who show him the ropes.

“Every time he sees an airplane in the air, he wishes to be inside it,” Zayed’s older brother, Khaled, explains.

Sitting in the captain’s seat in the flight simulator, Zayed looks like he’s got this handled.

“The amazing thing about flying is I can control the engine and other devices,” he says in the video.

With a tour of a real plane, and a visit to the airline’s offices, Zayed’s day as a pilot was complete.

We’re just hoping they let him keep the hat.
