Credit cards, we’re so sorry.

It was first announced last November, and now mega e-commerce site Noon.com is officially open for business.

The US$1 billion (Dhs3.67b) venture founded by Dubai billionaire Mohamed Alabbar is live for shoppers in the UAE, with Saudi customers set to get their own version “in coming weeks”.

The site is made up of categories including fashion, beauty electronics, books, health, toys, sporting goods and more (although it doesn’t seem to yet hold the 20 million products promised when the concept was first revealed).

Regardless, it already offers another way to get your hands on some of those often-need-restocking items, like M.A.C lipsticks, NARS concealers and Lancôme mascaras.

Other beauty brands sold include NYX, Maybelline, Dior and Chanel, as well as electronics from Foreo, BaByliss and more.

Fashion-wise, there’s Nike, Mango, Michael Kors, Ray-Ban, with accessories labels including Gucci, Prada and Bulgari (hey, new season sunnies).

“Today, we are excited to deliver orders to our first customers. We are proud to take this important first step in our journey, and we are committed to making Noon the region’s Arabic-first e-commerce platform,” said Alabbar in a statement.

“As digital technologies cause disruptions across industries and geographies, it is important for us to shape a digital marketplace that is relevant to our local markets and serves as a growth platform for brick-and-mortar retailers,” he added to The National.

Though it doesn’t yet appear live, Noon previously stated it will offer same-day delivery to UAE shoppers, as well as a mobile app.

We’ll keep you posted on when those go live. In the meantime, happy browsing…
