The UAE’s 45th National Day has just passed, bringing with it celebrations, parades, fireworks, and incredible aerial performances from the Red Arrows.

However, there was one photo from the occasion that really caught our eye…

The picture consisted of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stood alongside Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the rulers of the nation’s other emirates.

The seven royals stood next to a UAE flagpole to recreate a picture that was taken on December 2, 1971, in the ultimate throwback photograph.

However it wasn’t the only great image taken on the day. Here are our top picks from the weekend’s celebrations…

1. Khalaf Al Habtoor nabs an incredible shot of the aerial display.

2. A beautiful photo of the fireworks.

3. Local kids in the desert holding falcons and a flag.

4. A paraplane trails the UAE flag.

5. Planes fly over the emirates’ seven rulers.
