When it comes to great fashion, sometimes all we need to do it look closer to home to find great talent. Here are eight UAE-based designers you need to know about:
HUDA AL NUAIMI
“Because my mother, who is also a fashion designer, has a West Indian background, I’ve been raised on Erykah Badu, and I’ve always liked that kind of sense of fashion,” says local designer Huda Al Nuaimi, whose creations are all unicorns, sophistication and embellishment. AMAL AL RAISI
Omani designer, Amal Al Raisi began her career in the industry under the name of Dar Al Aseel. Initially designing traditional Omani dresses she has since gone on to master abayas and jalabiyas and other traditional silhouettes. Available at DarAlAseel.com
Ruwaya by Fatima Al Dhaheri, a designer who likes to keep herself under the radar and allow her pieces to shine, is a new interpretation of fine jewellery design. A Saudi fashion designer based in Dubai, Noora Hefzi launched her eponymous label in 2005, which fast garnered attention for its demure yet fashion forward style.
