Just nine days out from the show, seven-time Grammy winner Lamar has been replaced by J. Cole.
In either good or bad news depending on your feelings on each artist, the performer for Friday night’s after-race concert at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has changed. Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar has had to pull out for personal reasons, organisers say, and instead his slot will be filled by J. Cole.
The Roc Nation rapper is best known for songs like Work Out and Power Trip. He’s also a producer, having worked with Lamar himself as well as Janet Jackson.

Cole will play on the Friday night of the November 23-26 festivities, preceded by mega DJ Calvin Harris on Thursday 23rd, and followed by UK rock act Mumford & Sons on Saturday and pop star Pink on Sunday night.
Organisers add that for the first time, one-day passes for Friday will be available. That means if you do want to see J. Cole, you can do so without forking out for the full four-day event. Those passes will also get you into the Thursday night show, and will cost Dhs395.
We’re thinking this song-of-the-summer contender will feature in Harris’s set:
Passes are available at yasmarinacircuit.com, Etihad Shops and Virgin Megastores, or by calling (02) 659 9800, with prices ranging from Dhs995 for three days up to Dhs19,000 for a spot at the Paddock Club.
Though this news will be disappointing for some, the rest of the year is pretty full of big gigs in the UAE. Jennifer Lopez is playing at the Autism Rocks Arena on November 17, as is Sir Elton John on December 8.
No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani is also set to visit Dubai, to open a hotel on December 4.
