A novel way to beat the Sheikh Zayed Road traffic

Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new way to get between two of the city’s most popular malls. Starting this week, residents and tourists will be able to travel between The Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina Mall via a brand new ferry route.

The ferry will travel from the Dubai Marina ferry station, behind Dubai Marina Mall to  Al Wajeha Al Maeyah station, with a free shuttle service taking guests to and from the Downtown Dubai ferry port to The Dubai Mall. While the journey will take 1 hour and 20 minutes each way.

Tickets are a little more pricey than a taxi – at AED 68.25 per adult and AED 52.50 for children aged 5 to 12 years old, however the Dubai Ferry service also offers a far more scenic way to see the city, with Insta-worthy water views of The Palm Islands and the Dubai cityscape.

The ferry route is the first to be launched by the RTA, there are already nine operating boats, offering transport from eight stations including Ghubaiba, Jaddaf, Water Canal, Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Design District.

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of Public Transport Agency, said: “The marine transport network of Dubai is gaining considerable interest among visitors and residents, especially following the ongoing promotion of the Dubai Ferry service by At the Top, Burj Khalifa. The new service will add to the delight of users, who can cover two of the most popular malls effortlessly while enjoying scenic vistas of the city.”

Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of Group Operations at Emaar Properties, said: “The new ferry service is a remarkable addition that will add to the touristic attractions in the city. Following the promotion of Dubai Ferry to visitors and tourist groups touring At the Top, Burj Khalifa, we had seen a growing interest in using the ferry service. Now with this exclusive service for Emaar’s visitors, residents and tourist groups, they have the added convenience of touring to of the city’s most popular lifestyle destinations.”

Tickets can be bought from At the Top, Burj Khalifa, the guest service desks at The Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina Mall or burjkhalifa.ae as well as from the ferry stations.
