Think dance, drama, and romance.
Well, this looks like it’s going to be slightly epic. Bollywood musical Taj Express is coming to Dubai Opera in October.
Fans of A. R. Rahman will know what we’re talking about here. The show centres on India’s film industry, and Rahman’s compositions are among the Bollywood hits that give it life. Think Jai Ho, if you weren’t already.

Taj Express follows a young composer working on his first Bollywood score. As he writes, the numbers appear in front of him in three dimensions.
It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the passion and creativity of making movies, and of course, there’s enough energy, colour and dance numbers to keep anyone engaged.
Here’s a trailer for an earlier production of the show, so you know what to expect:
The production we’ll see at Dubai Opera is directed by Shruti Merchant and choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.
We think it’d be worth the ticket price just for a better look at those costumes. Gorgeous.
“This show has been a dazzling international sensation and is the epitome of all things Bollywood, mixing film, dance, and music by some of India and Bollywood’s greatest names to deliver an unforgettably colourful and magical night at the theatre,” said Dubai Opera chief executive Jasper Hope.
Taj Express will run from October 16 to 20 at Dubai Opera, with matinees on the Friday and Saturday of that week for a total of seven shows. Tickets start at Dhs200, and there’s an early bird special running until April 2. They’re on sale now.
