Fluttery semi-permanent falsies are one of life’s great pleasures.
They save you an extra five minutes in the morning as you forgo mascara, make you look far more awake on a Sunday morning that you actually are, and are a lifesaver for weddings and big events.
However once they’re gone, you’re often left with lashes that, well, leave a lot to be desired.
We’re big fans of lash extensions here at Emirates Woman, but repeat appointments have left what nature gave us looking short, sparse and straight.
So stubby, in fact, that even the best mascara makes little improvement.
However there is something you can do to encourage your lashes into a growth spurt, and that’s applying an eyelash serum.
Sure, it sounds like yet another step in an already jam-packed beauty routine but we promise, it’s worth investing the extra 30 seconds for a few months.
Thanks to one particular tried-and-tested serum, our own lashes are now not only returned to their pre-extension glory, but are actually a millimetre or two longer than they were originally.
So what do we have to thank for this?
fLash Eyelash Growth Serum
We were initially recommended this by our brow threader, to help thicken our sparse tails, but this US product has brought our lashes back from the brink of extinction. Simply swipe the clear gel on your lash line every night, like a liquid liner, and hey presto. A 2ml tube lasted us a solid four months, and we saw strong results after about seven weeks.

We’ve also had great results with some other serums on the market – here are our other top picks…
LiLash Purified Eyelash Serum
You apply this nourishing formula in exactly the same way as fLash, but it took a little longer to see an improvement – around three months.

RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum
While the effects weren’t the most dramatic, we definitely noticed a change in thickness and length with this amino and hyaluronic acid-rich serum.

Or if you want to save cash, plain old castor oil contains natural compounds that promote hair growth. Pick up a bottle at your local pharmacy, and gently sweep along your top lashline with a cotton bud (be careful you don’t drench the bud – and therefore your eye – though).
