Never underestimate a Pretty Little Liar
American songstress Sofia Carson is starring in the upcoming spinoff of hit teen drama Pretty Little Liars. The first episode of the new series PLL: The Perfectionist will make its long awaited debut on March 20.
Last Friday, the 25-year-old attended the show’s red-carpet premiere in a dazzling gown from Elie Saab’s Resort 2019 collection. Sofia wore a floor-length black and red dress, with a semi-sheer skirt and a shimmering sequin bodice – nailing that light and romantic vibe.

The spinoff is adapted for television by the same woman who was behind the success of its predecessor, I. Marlene King. The Perfectionists is taken from a novel by the same name written by author Sara Shepard (she wrote Pretty Little Liars). The books were not a spinoff of one another, but Marlene brought in two characters from the beloved PLL series to make it one. Viewers can expect to see PLL alums Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis) and Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal) reprise their roles as anti-heroes as they delve into a new murder mystery.

As easy as it may be to forget, PLL: The Perfectionists isn’t the first Pretty Little Liars spin-off. During the original series’ fourth season in 2013 came Ravenswood, a series that brought the supernatural element to the show’s universe. However, that show was canceled after one season, consisting of only 10 episodes. Following suit, The Perfectionists is also a 10-episode season, but who knows, maybe it could find success where Ravenswood failed.
