We’re thinking this would encourage kids to pay attention.

When he’s not surprising school children in their classrooms, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is working on their educational materials himself.

The Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE was joined by his son, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in lending his voice to a series of Arabic-language videos for kids.

The royal pair made their contribution in Dubai on Monday, as part of the translation challenge project, which aims to put 5,000 education videos into Arabic for kids across the Middle East and North Africa.

“I followed up today on the final stages of the translation challenge project, which aims to re-produce 5,000 educational videos in Arabic that suit all education levels and provide them for free to all Arab students, with the participation of volunteers from 15 Arab countries,” HH Sheikh Mohammed wrote on Twitter, according to The National.

Since the project began in September last year, 1,5oo videos have been translated, the site reports. Topics across mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and science are to be covered.

The free videos will be available to 50 million Arab learners, news agency WAM reported.

“We need to provide support to math and sciences material in our schools, and to encourage and support our students in these fields, so that we can shape a generation of Arab scientists, researchers and thinkers. This is the fastest way to bridging the education gap in the Arab world,” HH Sheikh Mohammed told WAM.

While it’s not known the subjects the royals recorded on, it does seem they enjoyed themselves. HH Sheikh Hamdan posted a number of clips and images from the day to his Instagram story.

Anything that promotes education for all has got to be a good thing, if you ask us.
