The British monarch is celebrating her 70th year of marriage with the Duke of Edinburgh.
With a shared love of horse-racing, they’ve enjoyed many a friendly conversation over the years—mostly on the trackside.
So it’s fitting that HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wanted to wish Queen Elizabeth II a very happy anniversary, as the British monarch celebrates 70 years of marriage.

The Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai took to social media to mark the occasion, sharing a portrait of HM and the Duke of Edinburgh taken to honour the milestone.
“Our congratulations to the Queen of England Her Majesty Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip on their platinum wedding anniversary,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote.
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip wed on November 20 1947 at Westminster Abbey, several years before her Majesty ascended to the throne.
During her reign, the monarch and HH Sheikh Mohammed have met many time, most often at major horse-racing events.
The most recent was at this year’s Royal Windsor Endurance Race, a 120-kilometre feat that took place in the UK in May.
The two were pictured in a tête-à-tête, with both royals looking rather tickled by their conversation.
The royals discussed “historic ties, friendship, and co-operation between the UAE and the United Kingdom” according to Dubai Media Office, with HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain also in attendance.
HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein also dedicated a length Instagram post to the British monarch on her 91st birthday earlier this year.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s longest reigning monarch, but it is not the duration of her reign that sets Her Majesty far ahead and apart from others, it is the fact that Her Majesty has reigned through times of both incredible change and turbulence, never failing to meet every challenge and adversity with unwavering energy and complete selflessness,” HRH wrote.
“She is in herself the personification of goodness, faith and values in our world.”
