Well earned, we’d say.

What do you do when a horse from your stables wins one of the world’s richest horse races? Well, if you’re HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, you dance.

The Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE’s Godolphin Racing had a very good day at the Dubai World Cup on Saturday – their horse Thunder Snow, ridden by Christophe Soumillon, took out the main event.

There was US$30 million (Dhs110m) in prize money up for grabs across the event, so you know it’s a slightly big deal.

HH Sheikh Mohammed looks to have been pretty pleased with it, too. Video has emerged of him celebrating the win with a victory dance.

Amazing.

Race day was a family affair for Dubai’s leaders, with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s horse Heavy Metal winning the first race of the day. The Crown Prince of Dubai congratulated his father’s stables on Instagram.

HH Sheikh Mohammed also shared a series of images, writing alongside them that the Dubai World Cup was a “great Arabian night in UAE.”

As you can see, 10-year-old Sheikha Al Jalila enjoyed the festivities too, even helping to collect the World Cup itself.

The fashions in the field were of a very high level, too. You can check out our favourites here.

Until next year, racing fans.
