While a lot of us may have outgrown Lego, that’s not to say we can’t still be impressed by it, especially after the latest model was unveiled at the new Legoland’s Miniland section.

Standing at a gigantic 17 metres tall, the tallest standing Lego building structure ever – it was a replica of the world’s tallest bulling Burj Khalifa, of course – was unveiled yesterday at the new theme park.

The finishing touches to the massive Lego model were added by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai’s mini best friend, Emirati youth Mohammed bin Ahmed Jaber Al Harbi.

Al Harbi beams next to his little Lego model of himself. Is that perhaps Sheikh Hamdan stood next to him?

Al Harbi completed the Lego Burj by adding a mini Lego replica of himself to the model and was also granted the honour to be the first to turn on the structure’s LED lights.

Keeping the replica as true to form as possible there’s even a mini model of the dancing Dubai Fountains.

HOW BIG ACTUALLY IS IT?

Well, a 17-metre tall model requires a lot of bricks to build – 439,000 to be exact.

That brings the model’s weight to around one tonne.

The Burj Khalifa Lego model is big. Very big.

Oh, and for reference as to how tall 17 metres is, that’s roughly nine camels stacked on top of each other.

Al Harbi is dwarfed by the giant structure.

That makes it the tallest Lego building structure in the world according to the company.

It took over 5,000 hours to build, which is around 208 days.

Look at the sheer size of it!

There’s just one thing we feel is missing, and that’s a little Lego Tom Cruise replica dangling off the side.
