Dubai’s crown prince got a warm welcome in the kingdom.
Keeping an eye on HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is almost a full time job in itself. The royal is always on the move – most recently in London – and even when he’s at home in Dubai he tends to keep us interested.
This time, Sheikh Hamdan is spending a little time in Saudi Arabia for the much-discussed camel festival. Seriously, international media can’t get enough of this.

Sheikh Hamdan: The ultimate animal whisperer
While the beauty contest side of the festival hasn’t been unmarred by controversy, Sheikh Hamdan’s visit looks to have run much more smoothly.
The Crown Prince of Dubai touched down in Riyadh on Saturday, the Saudi Press Agency says, to have a look around the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival.
“Sheikh Hamdan expressed his happiness for attending the event, and praised the organizing committee and its efforts,” the Dubai Media Office said.
He was welcomed at the airport by his Saudi counterpart, Prince Bader bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.
The festival, which runs until February 1, boasts Dhs209.3 million in prize money. As well as the beauty contest, prize camels are bought and sold.
For Sheikh Hamdan, the desert climate is a bit of a change. Before his trip to London, the royal spent time in Aspen, Colorado, hitting the slopes.
He’s a man of varied interests, for sure. We’ll be keeping an eye on his social networks to see if he decides to share any images from the festival.
