It’s all about developing businesses across the Arab world.

Getting recognised for your hard work is always a good feeling, but we’d imagine it’s better again when it comes from a member of the royal family.

On Monday, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council Dubai, congratulated the winners of the 10th round of his Young Business Leaders awards.

Among those honoured were Shayma Nawaf Al Fawwaz and Obaid bin Touk Al Marri, who shared the award for best entrepreneur of 2017. Al Fawwaz is best known for her three Gossip Cafes, in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as well as Al Wasl Road in Dubai.

Sheikh Hamdan also gave an award to Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, who was named best supporting personality in entrepreneur development. Najla Al Madfa accepted the award on the Sheikha’s behalf.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, who put the awards together, added, “Entrepreneurial spirit is emboldened whenever it is recognised.”

“The Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders showcases not only entrepreneurial excellence but also the comprehensive support system existing not only in Dubai but across the region to enable innovative start-ups to grow into global enterprises.”

Here’s to another year of ideas coming to life across the UAE.
