Is there anything Dubai’s fearless Crown Prince won’t do?

It’s hard to keep up with Dubai’s daredevil Crown Prince, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. One minute he’s jumping out of planes, the next he’s swimming with ocean predators.

The royal got up close and personal with an enormous whale shark on his latest adventure, and has the selfie to prove it. He shared the impressive snap with his 6.5 million followers on Instagram in honour of Shark Week, which runs from July 22 until July 30.

If that wasn’t epic enough, the fearless Crown Prince followed up with a video that shows him swimming alongside (and, gulp, underneath) a pair of the amazing creatures.

What exactly is Shark Week? Every year for the last 30 years, the Discovery Channel has set aside a whole week dedicated to shark-related programming. The series has been credited with promoting conservation and highlighting the plight of the seriously misunderstood animals.

We imagine they’re pretty happy to see Sheikh Hamdan, the UAE’s very own animal whisperer, getting in on the action.
