This is a hands-on conservationist we can all get behind.
HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, is an avid conservationist.
He is as passionate about conserving and protecting wildlife as his father HH Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minster of the UAE.
An incredible Instagram story posted on HH Sheikh Hamdan’s profile yesterday showed him and his team instinctively swing into action to rescue an injured gazelle in a location which hasn’t been specified. Below are screenshots of the entire rescue operation.
The video begins with an image of a gazelle which appears to have got itself entangled in a trap in a state of distress. You can see HH Sheikh Hamdan’s SUV in the background pulling into the area.
His aides then immediately reach the gazelle and lay it on its side. Sheikh Hamdan wastes no time in pulling out a penknife and cuts the green cord which bound its hoof to its horns.
Sheikh Hamdan then takes the penknife and delicately removes the remnants of the cord stuck between the gazelle’s cleft hoof.
Next, he begins prying away the cord wrapped around the gazelle’s horns.
He reaches out for a bottle of water and begins to wash the gazelle’s horns to remove any traces of the chord.
He then also puts some water on the gazelle’s body in order to calm and cool it down.
In a tender moment that shows utter compassion from the royal, he takes the bottle and puts it near the gazelle to feed it some water.
Here is another image of him putting the bottle to the gazelle’s mouth to allow it to get some much-needed fluids after its traumatic ordeal.
Then, just as quickly as it all started, he and his aides get off the ground and take their hands off the gazelle who springs back to its feet.
A very lucky (and we assume, grateful) gazelle can then be seen running into the distance.
If you need any more proof (and we can’t imagine you would) that Sheikh Hamdan is passionate about animals, take a look at some of these other pictures that can be found on the royals’ Instagram profile.
