Fairytale blue is easily this A-lister’s colour.
She’s currently starring in Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time, but Reese Witherspoon reminded us of another of the film company’s characters at a recent red carpet appearance.
The Hollywood actress stepped out at the European premiere of the fantasy adventure film in London this week, sporting a cornflower-blue mini that was both timelessly refined and a touch contemporary.
With voluminous shoulders and embellished scalloping, the design looked like a 21st-century update of Cinderella’s iconic ball gown (if the future princess had attended a cocktail reception rather than an extravagant gala).
The creation came courtesy of one regional design superstar: Lebanese couturier Elie Saab.
The Oscar winner accessorised the softly hued number with holographic heels and dainty sapphire drop earrings.
Joining the Walk The Line star on the red carpet was her 18-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe.
The teen, whose father is Cruel Intentions actor Ryan Phillippe, wore a ruffled Red Valentino knee-length dress, stamped in sequinned hearts.
Witherspoon was also surrounded by her co-stars on the night, who congregated in the British capital to promote the Disney adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 novel.
Directed by Ava DuVernay and featuring Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling and Chris Pine (to name just a few), the film focuses on one girl’s intergalactic quest, supported by three astral travellers.
Like Witherspoon, DuVernay also plumped for a blue palette, donning a perfectly tailored Prada gown with sharp shoulder in a rich azure.
The Office star Kaling sported a halterneck floor-sweeper from Temperley London, while Storm Reid wore a hot-pink Prada mini with ornate adornments.
This isn’t the first Wrinkle in Time premiere with a stand-out look from a Middle Eastern label (click here for proof).
Here’s hoping for a few more as the promotional trail continues…
