Our favourite UAE-based designer Rami Al Ali has taken Paris by storm during Couture Fashion Week, and we are not surprised.
Returning to the French capital for his ninth consecutive season, couturist and fashion designer Rami Al Ali unveiled his highly-anticipated spring/summer 2016 couture collection, which was met with huge applause.
For his latest collection, which he showcased yesterday at Le Meurice, Salon Pompadour, Paris, France, Rami Al Ali looked toward two opposing cultures and eras – the eight century Moors (layers of satin and brocade fabrics are formed together to create exaggerated tulles adding drama and mystery to the collection) and the 1960s (floor-length gowns are artfully cascaded in luxurious brocades and two-tone satins, effortlessly finished with gazar and gold lames). While the two may seem an unlikely match the result was a collection that truly embraces the female aesthetic – something of which Rami has become renowned for.

The runway was awash with a colour palette of shades of gold, taupe, coral and royal blue, adding an overall freshness to the collection.
“For this season’s collection, I was inspired by two opposing cultures,” said Rami after the show, “both from different eras and combined them together to create a synthesis of historical art. I was mesmerised by the iconic decorative Moorish artistry and experimented with the historic accents with beautiful masquerade silhouettes to create something special.”
