Here’s what went down.

While their son, Crown Prince Al Hussein, hosts Britain’s Prince William in Jordan, the country’s King Abdullah II and Queen Rania visited US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington, DC.

The royal couple met with Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to discuss the peace process in Syria.

It was their third visit since Trump took office in January 2017, The National reports.

Trump expressed optimism on the peace process, The National reports.

“We’re doing very well in the Middle East. A lot of progress has been made… and it really started with the end of the horrible Iran deal… that … was a disaster, and things are a lot different since we ended that,” he said.

The president called King Abdullah a friend, and praised Jordan’s contributions to the refugee crisis. More than 1.3 million refugees are hosted in the country, most of them Syrian.

The US contributes $1.3 billion (Dhs4.77b) annually in aid to Jordan.
