The couple wed over the weekend
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and American pop star Nick Jonas have tied the knot in a wedding ceremony in the Indian city of Jodhpur. The festivities, which lasted over several days, saw the couple merge both Hindu and Christian traditions at a star-studded event with both family and famous friends jetting into India for the event.

The couple first started dating 18 months ago, after they attended the 2017 Met Gala together in New York City. They both wore Ralph Lauren to the 2017 event, and in an apparent nod to their past, Priyanka wore a dress designed by Ralph Lauren to the Christian wedding service held as part of the week-long celebrations.
In a joint statement released by the couple, they said ” One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing…Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.”

Priyanka and Nick’s wedding celebrations started in Mumbai in late November, before the wedding party moved nearly 1,000 kilometres north to Jodhpur. There, the wedding took place in the decadent five-star Taj Umaid Bhavan Palace.
The wedding party enjoyed several days of celebrations, including a traditional day of puja (pre wedding prayers). The women also took part in a mehendi ceremony with Priyanka commenting “An important part of the pre wedding rituals for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.”
One of the highlights of the wedding festivities included the Jonas’ brother’s reuniting on stage, to perform as part of the wedding sangeet (musical evening).
Not to be outdone, the evening saw both sides of the family compete on a purpose built stage in full costume.

Priyanka commented on the musical celebrations that were part of the wedding festivities saying: “It all began as a fierce song and dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends”
