The young royal turned six this week.

Birthday wishes are in order for one of the youngest members of Dubai’s royal family, who celebrated his big day this week.

Little Sheikh Zayed turned six on January 7, in an occasion marked by his proud mother, HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, on social media.

The young royal, who’s an avid horse-rider, looked pleased as punch to move into a whole new year, judging by the picture HRH shared.

It’s not known if the photo was snapped on the day itself, but it’s a previously unseen image of Zayed with his father, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai is pictured embracing his smiling son, who’s holding a bird of prey on his left arm.

“Happy Birthday to our little Zayed… you bring us so much joy!” Princess Haya captioned the shot.

“We love you.”

The father and son have a famously close bond, with Sheikh Mohammed often sharing pictures of days out with his youngest.

The pair regularly venture out into the desert together, where the royal teaches Zayed all about the country’s wildlife.

Zayed is the younger sibling to Sheikh Mohammed and Princess Haya’s daughter Sheikha Al Jalila, 10.

The pair are often captured in intimate family portraits by their mother, as the royals spend days fishing, horse-riding and playing outdoors.

The mother-of-two has previously spoken about her wish for her children to indulge in good old-fashioned fun, telling Emirates Woman in 2016: “[Zayed] absolutely loves the desert.”

“Sheikh Mohammed is great. He believes that the kids need to get dirty every day to have fun! It’s also really good for their immunity,” the royal added.
