Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has revealed the designs for the 60,000 capacity Mohammed bin Rashid Stadium, which is being built in Dubai’s Al Aweer area.
While anyone who is into their sports will know, stadiums don’t come cheap – the new Wembley Stadium in the UK cost US$1.2 billion, while Sydney’s National Stadium could cost US$2 billion if it continues to be built. The reason for the Dhs3 billion project fee for the Mohammed bin Rashid Stadium is because its unique design, which complies with FIFA’s standards, is a world first – it’s the world’s first fully air-conditioned and raised off the ground stadium.
