The weekend is here (and a long one at that!), so we’re going to be making the most of it with super-stylish pop-ups, outdoor markets, comedy, karaoke and a classic film with a twist…

Check out a super-stylish pop-up

hermes

Hermès is known for the timelessness of its classic silk scarves… but that doesn’t mean you can’t give them an update once in a while. Luckily, the heritage fashion house’s latest pop-up in City Walk 2 will do just that. The quirky HermèsMatic promises to breath new life into your luxury accessories by dying them a new hue in specially-created washing machines and dryers. The best news? The overdyed service is free for Hermès scarf owners, and takes just 48 hours beginning to end. The pop-up is in its final days though, so get down there quick…

Place Des Lumieres, City Walk 2, Dubai until April 22. Open Thurs to Fri 10am to 12am, Sat to Wed 10am to 10pm. hermes.com.

See a new twist on a classic flick

Get ready to re-live your favourite 90s science fiction movie as Jurassic Park in Concert comes to Dubai Opera. But this is no ordinary screening, oh no – instead, the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra will bring the blockbuster to life by playing the score live on the night.

Dubai Opera, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai, April 20 and 21. Thurs at 8pm and Fri at 3pm, tickets from Dhs150. Tel: (04) 4408888. dubaiopera.com.

Friday 21

Make the most of some spring-ready produce

The Mediterranean favourite Café Bateel has just launched a new seasonal spring menu, and since long weekends are made for lazy lunches, now’s a good time to try it out. The burrata in pesto is calling our name, as is the lamb confit and pomegranate sundae. We’re unbuttoning our jeans already…

At Café Bateels around the UAE. bateel.com.

Shop some local market stalls

ripe market

It’s getting almost too hot to venture outside for hours on end, so make the most of Ripe Market’s fresh produce and boutique crafts and fashion while you still can. Grab a fresh lemonade and trawl the stalls, before taking a load off on the grass. There’s even a free yoga class at 9am so it’s a one-stop Friday morning activity.

Gate 2, Zabeel Park, Dubai, 9am to 3pm, Dhs5 entry.

Saturday 22

See Russell Howard live in the flesh

russell howard

The British funnyman is in Dubai this weekend as part of his Round The World tour. It’s Howard’s first time performing in Dubai, and he’s putting on three shows that look set to feature belly laughs aplenty, if his regular appearances on Mock The Week, Would I Lie To You and Eight out of 10 Cats are anything to go by.

Dubai College Auditorium, Al Sufouh, Thurs 8pm, Fri 8pm, Sat 7.30pm, Dhs295. Tel: (04) 4237980. More information on website. Buy tickets here.

Give those vocal chords a workout

lucky voice

Since we’ve got Sunday off, why not make Saturday a late one for once? Lucky Voice in Barsha Heights is holding half-price karaoke sessions from April 23 to 27, so getting into one of their private pods will cost Dhs25 per person for two hours. Plus, you can warble away in the company of your friends, rather than be faced with strangers watching you tackle Take On Me.

Grand Millennium Hotel, Barsha Heights, Dubai, daily 4pm to 3am. Tel: (04): 4478010. Metro: Dubai Internet City. More info on website.

Sunday 23

Get a jumpstart on Ramadan dressing

maje

The Holy Month will soon be upon us, so we’re already thinking of adding some more modest pieces to our wardrobe. We’re going to start with Maje’s recently-launched denim collection… because how good would this relaxed jumpsuit look over a breezy white shirt? The nine-piece capsule range also features a patchwork midi skirt and flared jeans that are also going in our virtual shopping basket…

At Maje stores across the UAE. maje.com.

See the Bella-approved beauty exhibition

The supermodel of the moment jetted into Dubai to launch it, and today’s the last day you can check out The Art of Colour exhibition charting the history of Dior Beauty. The luxury label has pulled together a series of photographs showcasing its most iconic makeup looks, so you should get some inspiration to shake up your beauty routine.

The Dubai Mall Fashion Catwalk Atrium, April 15 to 23, weekdays 10am to 10pm, weekends 10am to midnight. Free. Tel: (04) 399 5777. More information on website.
