It has not been confirmed whether private sectors will be granted the time off.

All UAE workers will be back in the office on Sunday 16th September.

The public holiday marks 1,440 years since the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions from Makkah to Madiah, Islam’s holiest cities in Saudi Arabia. It’s considered a time of reflection for Muslims.

The date will be determined by moon-sighting and could change but it’s expected to fall on Tuesday 11 September 2018 or Wednesday September 12 2018.

Hijiri is derived from the Arabic word Hijrah, which means migrant.

The next expected public holiday is expected to be November 20, which marks Milad Un Nabi, the Prophet’s birthday.
