The Modist is in the midst of a fashion boom

UAE fashion retailer The Modist has joined forces with global luxury shopping platform Farfetch. The online retailer made the announcement that it would join with international fashion portal Farfetch this week.

The Modist was founded by Algerian entrepreneur and CEO Ghizlan Guenez in 2017. The e-retailer, which has offices in both Dubai and London, was set up after Guenez wanted to give women of different faiths and cultures the ability to source luxury, Muslim-friendly fashion with ease.

Farfetch has also been in the headlines this week, after the company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Friday.

“We’re  thrilled to be partnering with Farfetch, focusing exclusively on luxury modest fashion that changes the fashion game,” Guenez said, ahead of the partnership. “We both recognise the complementary nature of our businesses and with Farfetch’s global reach and The Modist’s deep understanding of the consumer in the modest-fashion market, we will reach our woman worldwide, bringing her the best of fashion in a relevant and curated way.”

“Our mission is to build a strong sense of purpose to empower a woman’s freedom of choice and to acknowledge how similar women across the world are, despite our diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles” Guenez said at the time. “We aim to break down pre-conceived notions while building a community and dialogue that invigorates, informs and celebrates the fashion, modern and modest woman.”

The Modist stocks more than 150 modestwear brands, including JW Anderson, Christopher Kane and Roland Mouret.
