London is one of those cities that is fabulous to visit all-year round, however if you do wish to up the ante we suggest visiting during Fashion Week, and we also suggest you stay somewhere equally as fabulous such as the ME London…
The Lowdown
It’s no easy feat standing out as a cool hotel when you’re located smack bang in the middle of London, a city where even food trucks and street performers ooze a certain charm that lures you in. But that said ME London, Meliá’s flagship hotel, has many advantages that help set it apart from its competitors of which there are many.
ME London is one of those venues that offers the best that the capital has to offer: history, style and a great position next to all the action and fashion.
The triangular building (it’s located on the corner of Aldwych Street and The Strand aka Theatreland) used to be the Gaiety Theatre. However, the building was damaged during bombing in WWII and in the 1960s was transformed into an office building. It became the luxury hotel that it is today in 2013, opening in time for the autumn/winter 2013 London Fashion Week – quite apt considering how stylish it is.
The staff are achingly cool and the service is friendly, but not overbearing. We loved the warm welcome, which included a complimentary glass of bubbly – not a bad way to start your experience.
Suite Life
More of a boutique hotel, it boasts 157 rooms, including 16 suites. While the abodes are rather on the small side, the attention to detail more than makes up for it. We particularly loved the Coco Chanel quote written on the bathroom mirror and the hangover emergency kit in the mini bar.
The amenities are also generous: 24/7 room service; free WiFi; media hub HD station – video, stereo wireless technology for Bluetooth; atmospheric lighting that you can custom control; pillow menu and Nespresso coffee maker. What’s more, if you wish to personalise your experience you can contact the hotel before your arrival with your specifications.
Designed by Fosters + Partners the hotel is the epitome of urban chic. Grand spaces, clean lines, cosmopolitan furnishes and lots of marble – there’s an elegant space age feel to it.
Stylish Eats
Cucina Asellina offers the perfect Italian tapas experience, which is great to share with a group of friends. This is also the main restaurant for breakfast, which is definitely worth getting up early for to beat the crowds.
STK London is the restaurant to be and be seen. While a fave among the A-list and the C-list – on any given night you could be rubbing shoulders with a Hollywood movie star or a TV reality queen – it’s not just about the scene, the steak and tuna are pretty stand out, too.

ME London’s Radio Rooftop has fast become on the the premier rooftop spots in the capital. The scene is uber-trendy, the crowd are gorgeous and stylish and the drink prices are way inflated, however it’s worth it to see the unrivalled views of the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, London Bridge, Covent Garden and St Paul’s Cathedral.
Spa & Away
The gym is open 24-hours a day, so there’s no excuse not to work off any indulgences at its bars and restaurant. While there isn’t a spa there is a plethora of choices for in-room treatments.
