Think bright red and bold stripes.

We’ve got a lot of time for fashion label SemSem. Designed by Abeer Al Otaiba, who’s married to the UAE’s ambassador to the USA, it’s an Egyptian label with a strong local connection and an even stronger aesthetic.

It’s also got a whole selection of famous fans. Most recently, Al Otaiba has dressed The Handmaid’s Tale star Madeline Brewer, and pop star Katy Perry.

To start us off, let’s look to Brewer’s outfit, worn in Los Angeles on the day of the show’s season two premiere.

If you’re up to date with The Handmaid’s Tale, you’ll know that red is a very key colour in terms of its costuming.

It was a major presence on the red carpet that evening, and it’s cool to see Brewer interpreting it in such a modern way. Nice one.

Now to Perry’s SemSem moment. The Part of Me singer wore Al Otaiba’s label for a live interview with Xfinity TV.

This multi-coloured, double-breasted blazer dress is just right for a sit-down interview. It’s daytime-appropriate and a bit of fun, but still has the fashion cred you want.

Brewer and Perry join the likes of Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Saoirse Ronan and Mishel Prada. In fact, just last week, A Quiet Place star Emily Blunt wore the label while out and about in London.

We’d say Brewer and Perry are both in very good company.
