Lucia Pica

Italian make-up artist Lucia Pica has been named as the new Global Creative Make-up and Colour Designer for Chanel.

A freelance make-up artist since 2008, Lucia Pica is a prominent member of a new generation of ‘image makers’ that are taking beauty and fashion into the future.

Lucia succeeds Peter Philips who left Chanel nearly two years ago (he subsequently moved to Dior), and is taking over the development of the French fashion house’s renowned assortment of lipsticks, blushes, mascaras, and bronzers.

Between Peter’s departure and Lucia’s arrival, make-up artist Tom Pecheux has been responsible for creating the runway looks at Chanel’s Cruise, spring/summer 2015 and, most recently, their Métiers d’Art show in Salzburg.

The London-based Italian-born make-up artist is currently represented by the talent agency Art Partner, and boasts a very impressive CV. Lucia is famous for the barefaced looks of actress Rosamund Pike, Kate Upton and Freja Beha Erichsen on the covers of British Vogue.  She has also worked on fashion advertorials and has created campaign looks for Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. She regularly collaborates with the photographer Alasdair Mclellen and brings to Chanel her creativity, her distinctive colour expertise and her modern interpretation of beauty.

A Chanel spokesperson said: “Lucia Pica perfected her craft by working with independent style magazines and key international publications where she collaborates with a group of leading photographers who are known, like Pica, for setting innovative agendas in modern beauty and fashion.”

Lucia Pica will start her creative collaboration with Chanel on January 1, 2015. Well, that’s a great way to see in the New Year!
