Development on the ambitious project continues, and this star stopped by to check it out.

Part-time Dubai resident and star of Mean Girls (you’ll notice that it was recently October 3) Lindsay Lohan has made no secret of her affection for the UAE. In January, she said the city gives her “silence and focus,” and in March, she was spotted at the Dubai premiere of Beauty and the Beast.

Now, the Parent Trap actress has posted on Instagram about a visit to Thailand Island, in the World Islands.

We’re pretty sure that developer Nakheel are already settled on the names, but we do love her enthusiasm.

The World Islands development is about 4.5 kilometres off the coast of Dubai. It’s 9km wide, 7km long, and is visible from space. First announced in 2003, it has faced setbacks, but in September, Nakheel said about 70 per cent of the properties were spoken for.

Most recently, the Heart of Europe section of the development has been in the news. It’s going to be home to a floating resort (think part hotel, part ship) styled after the Italian city of Venice, as well as climate-controlled streets featuring real snow. Want to take your dog on holiday? You’ll be able to do just that at the pet-friendly hotel inspired by Amsterdam.

The Heart of Europe looks to be on track for an Expo 2020 opening, but dates for the rest of the World Islands aren’t yet known. If Lohan’s been taken to Thailand for a visit, though, we’re thinking something must be happening.

We can’t wait to see more.
