Inside Al Habtoor City’s Extraordinary Water-Themed Show
It seems competition is heating up in the UAE’s entertainment scene. First Dubai Opera revealed its show tickets are on sale, and now Al Habtoor City has announced it is bringing, for the first time ever, a water-themed show to the UAE.
La Perle by Dragone, a water-themed show by world-famous Italian-Belgian artistic director Franco Dragone, will be a permanent artistic production located on Sheikh Zayed Road’s Habtoor City.
Coming to the emirate next year, the production will include 450 performances and will feature a cast of 65 world-class artists performing breathtaking aqua and aerial feats with the assistance of 70 specialised technicians in the tailor-made, state-of-the-art, intimate 1,300 seat theatre.
While the storyline of La Perle, which is inspired by the modernity of Dubai and the traditions of Arabia, will inspire, the theatre itself will leave you spellbound. The ‘aqua-stage’ will be filled with 2.5 million litres of water, powered by hydraulic lifts and will feature fountains that will enable the stage to change from a dry platform to aquatic stage and vice versa.
The acrobatic performers will dive into the water-filled stage from a height of 35 metres and fly around the auditorium on high-powered winches.
It’s set to be the most energetic spectacle to ever come to the UAE.
Artistic Director Dragone founded his eponymous company back in 2000 – “Our early days will be marked by two big successes in Las Vegas: first, A New Day… with Céline Dion, and then Le Rêve.” However, we think he will be greatly revered for the spectacular Dubai shows.
Dragone said: “La Perle will be the most awe-inspiring and technically advanced theatre production I have ever produced and directed. New and unique for the region with the world’s best creative team and incredible performers, La Perle is inspired by the spirit of Dubai and will reflect the beauty and flavours of Arabia. It will be the soul of Al Habtoor City.”
Group and MICE Bookings are being accepted now for January 2017 onwards with individual tickets going on sale to the travel trade and general public after the summer. Visit laperle.com for more information and sale announcements.
