Did some say stay-cay?

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai is a stalwart of the local hotel scene. Here’s five reasons that we love this architecturally brilliant hotel.

Above the clouds

While the rest of us moan and groan about poor visibility on the roads, you’ll be snap happy when a foggy morning descends  on Dubai. JW Marriott Marquis has the most incredible vistas to take in from either one of their two iconic towers. Jagged in design, the futuristic feel to the property is enhanced as you whizz up and down all 72 floors at the speed of light.

Soak it up

The swanky Saray Spa has a treasure trove of feel-good treats – namely the UAE’s only Dead Sea floatation pool and a menu full of restorative treatments like the Exclusively Yours package. That’s 200 minutes of uninhibited self-care. After a treatment bask in the outdoor pool (heated when needed) which gives you uninterrupted views of a twinkling Burj Khalifa.

Welcome to my pad

With a stonking 1,608 rooms and suites, you’d think the average space was capsule-sized. Not so. One word: plush. Your room or suite feels like you’re in an episode of Suits with floor-to-ceiling windows, cloud-like beds, walk-in wardrobes and a subdued yet sophisticated colour scheme of woody browns and blacks, elevated by conceptual artwork. As the phrase goes, this is THE (city) life.

Centre point

What’s #staycay goals about JW Marriott Marquis is that it’s in Business Bay but not in an overwhelming pocket of dense traffic and general chaos. You’re a hop and skip away from The Dubai Mall (the hotel offers a free shuttle) with easy access to Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Water Canal which, as the weather is on our side right now, is perfect for a long stroll.

Feed me

JW Marriott Marquis doesn’t skimp on its offering of fare, with 14 restaurants to choose from. The eatery of the moment right now though is Hotel Cartagena. Over two floors, this Latin American haunt is where all the rhythm is at. It’s tropical prints galore, spinning colour clashes and a giant gold birdcage. Don’t miss out on the braised beef cheek empanadas.
