The singer is a bona fide hair chameleon.

Zayn Malik has done it again. The former One Directioner showed off another major hair transformation on Instagram this week, swapping his beach blonde tips for – wait for it – neon pink.

Nothing much shocks us anymore when it comes to the Pillowtalk singer’s experimental hairstyles. In the last few months alone, Malik has rocked bright green, lavender and blue locks, and over the years we’ve seen him dip into almost every colour of the rainbow. At this point, we can’t even remember what his natural hair looks like.

Which is why we’re taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of Malik’s most iconic dos.

2011: POP PRINCE

The year was 2011, Up All Night had just been released, and One Direction was propelled to superstardom. During these heady days, Malik’s signature look was his sky-high quiff.

2012: ONE THING

Here’s where we see Malik starting to experiment with colour a little, in the form of a single blonde streak (apparently his then-girlfriend’s mum did it for him).

2015: GOING PLATINUM

This was a huge year for Malik. Not only did he decide to leave One Direction, but he also symbolically shed his trademark locks. A major turning point.

2016: PINK HAIR, DON’T CARE

As you can see, 2018 isn’t Malik’s first foray into bubblegum-inspired hues. The singer was rocking this candy pink do on Valentine’s Day 2016.

2017: BEST HAIR EVER

This might be our all-time favourite Malik hair. We love this perfectly tousled look.

2018: FADE AWAY

Malik rocked a fresh fade with plenty of height on top to the 6oth Annual Grammy Awards. Note the sadness in his eyes that not even great hair can disguise – this was just two months before he and Gigi Hadid announced their break-up (but don’t worry, they’re back together now).
