Instagram sensation and fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni doesn’t do anything by half; she does things by a million. With 5.6 million Instagram followers, one million Facebook friends and an annual revenue of over Dhs31 million, Emirates Woman wanted to know if her sense of interior design was as flawless as her style.
Chiara Ferragni is always on the go. When she’s not sitting front row at international fashion weeks, shooting magazine covers, managing her shoe brand or being courted by fashion designers hoping for an endorsement, she somehow manages to maintain a chic and artsy LA home in addition to her base in Milan.
But if Chiara knows anything, it’s style. Online, Chiara is more commonly known as The Blonde Salad, a blogger, model, consultant, author and designer at just 28 years old who has built an online empire around her fashion sense and good instincts. “I don’t do design,” she says, “I just do creative direction. I know what I like, I’m good at trends and I’m good at shapes.”
With a personal style that has been described as ‘pop chic’, this aesthetic has clearly permeated into the design of her living space. In particular, Chiara has a thing for Mickey Mouse and this is used as a point of inspiration throughout her Beverley Hills home. Lots of primary colours, bold uses of black and white and graphic accessories are dotted throughout – with a vintage Mickey Mouse phone sitting in pride of place in one corner.
Sharing her home with partner photographer Andrew Arthur, meant finding the middle ground in their style – that middle ground evidently being a successful juxtaposition of deep shades of blue with lots of wood and brass accents. And outside, their home is just as much of a Pinterest dream come true with an ivy-covered hill and flat terrain that has been appropriately ‘cartoonised’ with bright, spray-painted teal-blue chairs and a vintage ‘Los Angeles’ statement marquee nestled among the greenery.
Chiara recently became the face of European Amazon Fashion, replacing her friend, model and actress Suki Waterhouse, but she still feels as grounded as ever. “I’m a new kind of celebrity that is very down to earth and close to her followers,” she says. “I don’t have the diva attitude.”
So with 5.6 million Instagram followers, what sort of images do they like to see most? “Make-up shots, selfies, cool bags, lots of interiors and cities.” she says. “A photo of a room, they love it.”
Well, with rooms like these to photograph Chiara, we’re not at all surprised.
