He was congratulating the UAE’s top female students on their achievements.
It’s not every day you get a personal phone call from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
So we’re hoping that three high school students didn’t think it was a prank when they answered the phone, only to hear the vice president of the UAE and ruler of Dubai on the other end.
Why was he calling? Well, the three female students – all from Ajman – achieved top scores for the 2017-2018 academic year in the UAE.

“I am happy to share with the high school top achievers their success and joy,” Sheikh Mohammed said of his surprise call.
“Our investment in the future starts with preparing youth to achieve the highest levels of excellence. We have high ambitions for our youth and we will spare no effort in helping them tap their fullest potential.”
The students all expressed their delight at receiving a call from the Dubai ruler, and said his words were “fatherly” and that he encouraged them to achieve further excellence at university.
If a phone call from Sheikh Mohammed isn’t motivation, we don’t know what is. Now, how can we get Sheikh Mohammed on speed dial?
