FOR WWEB

Aside from the January sales, what we’re most looking forward to next year is a new wave of cool collaborations in the fashion and beauty world with stars of the music and film industry. First up is the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection.

The glam pop singer, whose hits include Hollaback Girl,is renowned for her edgy look, so it was really only a matter of time before she dabbled in cosmetics, and this is a collaboration we simply adore. The range includes seven new limited edition nail lacquers inspired by the multi-talented star (she’s a mother, illustrious singer and fashion designer) with quirky names like Over And Over A-Gwen – a deep red shade modelled on the No Doubt frontwoman’s day-to-day lipstick colour of choice.

Citing the 2013 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala that featured the theme Punk: Chaos to Couture as the starting point for the idea, OPI Executive Vice President and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann wanted to celebrate the role of music in the fashion and beauty world. What better place to start than with the always-polished and perennially well-dressed Gwen Stefani?

“Known for her trademark red lips, bold eye make-up and nail art, Gwen uses beauty to accessoriSe her style,” explained Suzi.

Giving Gwen and OPI fans the chance to emulate her flawless look, the collection will not only feature rock ‘n’ roll shades of black, silver and blue but will also include a unique decorating kit for your talons, containing stencils, studs and sparkling Swarovski crystals.

Playing with texture as well as colour the collection is perfectly on trend for the new season with a mix of semi-matte and chrome finishes making it one of the most unique nail collaborations from the cosmetic giant to-date, and with whispers of a waiting list already starting to form across the pond it’s one collaboration we’re happy to get in line for.
