Awards season is here, and the region’s designers are dominating

Middle Eastern designers dominated the red-carpet, as they dressed some of the biggest stars for the 76th Golden Globes on Monday. Here are the nine celebrities who wore Arab brands to one of Television and Film’s biggest nights.

The Golden Globe winning actress took the leopard print, one of the year’s hottest trends, and ran with it. Anne wore an animal print gown from the Lebanese designer’s Ready-to-Wear Spring Summer 2019 collection. The dress featured a thigh-high slit, and a shinny bodice. The actress finished up the look with an Olgana Paris heels, Lorraine Schwartz hoop earrings, and a box clutch from Jimmy Choo.

The Good Place actress, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series, turned heads in a blush, Grecian-style floor-length gown, with a plunging neckline. Kristen completed her look with jewelry from Harry Winston, sandals by Brian Atwood, and pink toned makeup. The flowing dress is from Zuhair Murad’s Ready-to-Wear Resorts 2019 collection.

The Riverdale star stunned on her first Golden Globes red carpet appearance, in a bright red tulle dress. The frilly ball gown is by London-based womenswear brand Khyeli, which is lead by Emirati designer Ahmed Khyeli. The stunning strapless gown had a voluminous front and a low straight back. The 22-year-old actress won the red carpet with sparkling jewelry from  Swarovski, a watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre, smoky eye makeup, and slicked-back hair.

The Lebanese director, who’s film Capernaum was nominated for a Golden Globe in the ‘Best Picture – Foreign Language’ category, making her the only Arab nominee. Nadine represented her country by wearing a velvet black form-fitted gown, with a plunging neck line by Elie Saab. She completed the dark look with smoky eye-shadow, and her black locks parted down the middle in her signature style.

The 52-year-old stunned at the Globes red carpet in a maroon dress from the Lebanese fashion house. The dress from is from Zuhair Murad’s Couture – Fall Winter 2018-2019 collection. The multi-textured lace gown features a plunging neckline, and a thigh-high slit. She finished up the look with geometric earrings, and Loriblu heels.

The iconic actress looked regal in a vibrant green gown by Elie Saab. The one shoulder dress is from the brand’s Haute Couture Autumn Winter 2018-19 collection. The silky dress featured a thigh-high slit, which the 49-year-old pulled off. The green dress looked impeccable with her dark hair, as she accessorized with emerald jewelry, and strappy golden sandals.

The Golden Globe nominee looked stunned in a purple gown from Reem Acra’s Fall 2018 collection. The floor-length royal purple dress had silver stars on one shoulder, and a tie around the waist. The flowing gown also featured billowing sleeves that gave a cascading effect.

Patricia won the Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited Series Or Movie Made for Television award for her role in Sharp Objects. The 59-year-old actress stole the show in a bright orange dress by Lebanese label Georges Chakra Couture. The flowing chiffon ensemble was paired with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and Harry Winston jewelry.

Blue hues seemed to be a staple at the Golden Globe red-carpet. The Jane the Virgin actress stunned in long baby blue Reem Acra gown from the designer’s Spring 2019 collection. The satin gown featured a plunging neck line, which she paired with Chopard jewelry, and Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

The Lebanese presenter chose a local designer for the Hollywood event. Raya’s gown was from up and coming bridal Lebanese brand Mariane Bechara. She wore a bridal white pearl beaded off-shoulder gown, and accessorized from Ananya Fine Jewelry.
