“We are each other’s biggest fans.”
You might think working in the same industry as your sister would be a recipe for disaster – and even more so in the cut-throat world of fashion.
But that is simply not the case for supermodel sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid. In a new interview for V Magazine, Gigi, 23, reveals modelling is the last thing they’re likely to fight over.
Chatting with tennis star and family friend Serena Williams, Gigi said she “absolutely loves” working with her younger sister: “It’s very rare to have what Bella and I have in fashion, what you and Venus have in tennis.”
She continued: “I feel very lucky to be able to have a piece of home in my work environment. We are each other’s biggest fans. It has been a huge joy of my life to watch my little sister flourish, and to help when I can.”

When asked what advice she gave Bella, 21, when she first started out in the business, Gigi told Serena: “I personally really loved the challenge of learning a lot of the fashion ropes on my own when I started working in New York, so I didn’t want to take that experience away from Bella when she started.”
She added: “I was always there whenever she had a question about a specific client or situation, but I tried not to be too protective, which comes naturally to me with her. We’re always FaceTiming to keep each other company on work trips.”
Pushed by Serena to reveal what exactly gets their competitive juices flowing, Gigi answered: “I would say that out of everything, Bella and I are the least competitive about our careers. We are more competitive about holiday cooking.”
Don’t believe her? Last year, Gigi lost her shoe while walking down the runway at New York Fashion Week. Fortunately Bella was walking in the same show, and without hesitation, stepped in to support her sister.
