A bittersweet goodbye
Supermodel duo Bella and Gigi Hadid walked Fendi’s runway in Karl Lagerfeld’s final collection for the Italian brand at Milan Fashion Week. The show took place on Thursday, two days after the fashion icon passed away.
Fendi bid their creative director goodbye with a touching video at the end of the show.

While the models walked down the runway, a replica of the late designer’s “Love KL” signature was displayed behind them to honour him. They strutted in the designer’s last Fendi collection, which was a palette of neutrals with pop of colour in dabs of green, orange, and yellow. Walking the show were sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid who have frequently worked with Karl throughout their careers.
Gigi closed the show in a sheer, bright yellow dress with the fashion house’s logo all over. The 23-year old shared a video from the runway in a post on her Instagram which she captioned, “For Karl”.

Meanwhile, her younger sister wore a long-sleeved nude dress, paired with white boots and matching nude hat. Bella also took to Instagram, where she shared two posts. One was before the show, which she captioned,”Before rehearsal of the final @Fendi collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Cried for Karl & Smiled for Karl. We miss you.” In another post, she shared pictures of her look on the runway, “His magic will always be around us!! Fendi”.

The models held back tears, as they made their final walk to “Heroes”. After that, the fashion house played a tribute video to its creative director of 54 years. The video shows Karl being asked to sketch what he looked like when he first joined the Italian brand back in 1965.
We will miss seeing his creations on the runway.
