“My parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking.”
They’ve been husband and wife for more than three years, but we’ve finally got the details of how George Clooney met the then-Amal Alamuddin.
And the Hollywood star didn’t even “leave the house” to be introduced to the Beirut-born human rights lawyer back in 2013.

Amal and George Clooney made an actress’ day with this gift…
The couple, who are typically private about their personal life, stuck up their relationship mostly over email at first, George added in a clip from a wide-ranging interview.
The Ocean’s Eleven actor sat down with David Letterman for the US TV host’s show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, which arrived on Netflix on February 9.
In the insightful hour-long episode, George also revealed that his agent predicted he’d marry Amal before they’d even met.
“No, it’s the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, ‘I’m stopping by and can I bring my friend?'” he told Letterman.
“And I was like, ‘Of course.’ I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry.”‘
Incidentally, George’s parents were at his Lake Como home when Amal first came by, with the foursome bonding throughout the evening.
“And the funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking,” he revealed.
Following their initial meeting, the two swapped email addresses so Amal could send across some photos she had taken of the family that night.
“We started writing and I didn’t really know if she wanted to go out with me,” he said. “I just thought, you know, we were buddies.”
During the full episode, the star introduces Letterman to the Iraqi refugee he and Amal helped get settled in the States, according to Variety.
The A-list couple, who wed in Venice in 2014, are well-known for their philanthropic efforts, last year pledging Dhs9.18 million towards helping educate Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Dhs3.67 million towards fighting hate groups in the US.
In fact, 2017 was extremely busy for the pair who welcomed their first children—twins Ella and Alexander—in June.
The actor has also previously revealed how he popped the question to his accomplished spouse, telling Ellen DeGeneres in 2016 he proposed over dinner at their home.
“She reached out, she pulled out the box, and I’ve got just the ring sitting in there. And, she pulls it out and she looks at it, and she’s like ‘it’s a ring’,” George said.
“I got down on my knee and said ‘I couldn’t imagine spending the rest of my life without you’.”
