Think top-tier service and exceptional facilities.

It’s no surprise that the UAE is home to some pretty luxurious places to lay your head. How many of us knew seven-star hotels even existed before we made Dubai home?

Hospitality is right up there in terms of what our country does best, so it makes sense that four UAE hotels scored a Forbes list of the best in the world.

Here’s what you can expect to find at the world’s (new) tallest hotel

2018 was the Middle East’s first appearance on the Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards, which rank top hotels as either five-star, four-star, or recommended.

The magazine says its standards are the most exacting in the industry, 900 criteria assessed. Each hotel’s rating is based on 75 per cent service and 25 per cent facilities.

“We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process,” the magazine says.

“Our… system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.”

They’re pretty tough markers, is the impression we’re getting. So for the four UAE hotels who made the five-star grade, it’s high praise.

And who were they? We’re so glad you asked.

Burj Al Arab Jumeirah

Not exactly a surprise. The Burj Al Arab has been voted the world’s most luxurious hotel on more than one occasion. Don’t forget to ask for the optional chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce when you book.

Forbes Travel Guide praised the hotel’s above-and-beyond personal service, its lush interiors, and its sun-soaked terrace.

Four Seasons Hotel DIFC

Aside from that glass-walled rooftop pool (swoon) reviewers loved the Four Seasons DIFC’s location, its sense of intimacy, and its spacious penthouse suite.

“The 180-degree view of the Burj Khalifa is hard to beat,” they said. We’d wager that’s a fair assessment.

Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach

A good week for the Four Seasons team, then. This second entry to the five-star rankings earned points for its landscaped grounds, peaceful adults-only pool, and its beach.

“Ask for the rooms and suites on higher levels to take in fantastic views of Jumeirah Beach or the city’s skyscraper-studded skyline,” reviewers said.

Emirates Palace Abu Dhabi

This resort’s 8,000 palm trees and 1,000-seat auditorium took reviewers’ fancy.

“Take advantage of the West Wing Garden’s meticulous grounds and spectacular Presidential Palace views by partaking in a picnic lunch,” they recommended.

A further 21 hotels made the four-star cut, and six were recommended.
