This isn’t one for those of us who hate heights…

If you’re a JBR regular, you’ll have noticed the twisted column going up near the Roxy Cinema at The Beach. We’ve been keeping an eye on it since January, and sky-high pop-up cafe Flying Cup Dubai is open now.

How does it work, you ask? Well, when you’ve booked your tickets online, you can head down to JBR whenever suits and get strapped in. From there, the platform rises to its full 40-metre height, and you enjoy your soft drink and the views.

It’ll set you back Dhs80 per adult, with children aged 4-12 priced at Dhs40. We’d call that pretty reasonable for views out to The Palm and across JBR Beach to Ain Dubai. You can expect to spend about 15-20 minutes in the air.

The 16-seat platform will also be available for private events. That would be a birthday to remember, to say the least.

Flying Cup Dubai will be open from 10am-12am Saturday through to Wednesday, and 10am-1am on Thursdays and Fridays.

It’s not the first experience of its kind we’ve seen in the city. In December 2016, Dinner In The Sky went up by the Habtoor Grand Resort, Autograph Collection.

That’s another one that isn’t for the faint of heart, but you really can’t beat it for a view of the sunset.

Hey, if nothing else this is a guaranteed way to impress any out-of-town visitors.
