This is the kind of style alliance we like to see.
He’s the king of couture, and she’s arguably the queen of the modern-day red carpet. It makes sense that Elie Saab would spend some time dressing Lupita Nyong’o.
The Star Wars and Black Panther actress has the kind of poise and energy that brings clothes to life – especially those designed by the Damour-born Saab.
This is by no means every time she’s looked amazing on the red carpet, but it helps to narrow things down.

In no particular order, here are five times Nyong’o and Saab made magic happen.
This lavender chiffon number was one of our favourites of 2016, and years on, it absolutely holds up. The colour is gorgeous, the head wrap is a dream, and the straps give it the sense of fun that Nyong’o’s best looks all share. Dreamy.
For something a bit more laid back, this breezy jumpsuit and duster combo more than fits the bill. Nyong’o is pictured here promoting Black Panther at a daytime Comic Con event last year, so anything too done-up wouldn’t have been right. A beautiful print keeps her style cred intact even when dressing down.
Speaking of genius fabrics, here’s this gown worn to the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Awards. The abstract print, broken up with black stripes, is painterly and romantic. Nyong’o wears it well.
Nyong’o chose a Saab design again for the Governor’s Awards in 2016. With pretty floral embellishment and a charming boat neck, it suits her perfectly.
Most recently, Nyong’o wore the Lebanese designer for an appearance in South Korea. We love how she always looks like herself – and like a million dirhams – no matter the occasion.
