We want to see these first-hand.
It’s a classic Monday afternoon state of affairs – we’re mentally half way to the airport, bound for parts unknown.
Of course, Dubai is a major flight hub. We could go just about anywhere, but in light of Oman’s decision to move visa applications online, we thought we’d take our imaginary holiday there.
Hey, there’s (probably) a long weekend coming up in April. Join us in planning an itinerary that may or may not come to pass.

Here are the holidays you can look forward to in the UAE for 2018
Sultan Qaboos Mosque
Let’s start in the Sultanate’s capital, Muscat. With lush gardens and sandstone exterior, the Sultan Qaboos Mosque is worth a visit before you even know it’s home to the world’s largest chandelier. They keep that inside, of course.
Muttrah Corniche
Still in the city, how lovely is this view of Muscat’s port? We’re imaging a sunset stroll with the mountains on one side and the water on the other.
Muttrah Souk
Less peaceful and more bustling, but with no less to catch your eye, is the centuries-old Muttrah Souk. You’ll find us in there browsing textiles, frankincense and semi-precious stones.
Nizwa Fort
About an hour and a half from Muscat is the 17th century fort of Nizwa. Settled in the Hajar Mountains, this is one of Oman’s top spots for visitors, and we can see why. Gorgeous.
Musandam Peninsula
There’s only one way to see this part of Oman, and that’s from the water. Join a tour group – some even leave from Dubai – and keep your eyes peeled for dolphins.
