If there’s one thing Dubai does well, it’s fireworks.
…And with National Day coming up, you know they’re going to be pulling out all the stops. We love the city on a public holiday – everyone out and about, enjoying the special occasion. This Saturday is the perfect opportunity to get involved with some community spirit and a spot of national pride.
We’ve rounded up five top spots to watch the fireworks from.

The Beach at JBR
This ever-popular spot is sure to fill up, so head down early if you’re after a good spot. The fireworks will go off at 9.30pm on Saturday.
La Mer Dubai
A new entry to the fireworks scene, La Mer Dubai (in Jumeirah 1) is a Friday eve showing that should be very impressive. It’s set to kick off at 9.30pm.
Burj Khalifa
Now imagine this view all lit up with fireworks as well as city lights. Beautiful. The Burj Khalifa’s show will take place on December 2, though times aren’t available yet. This is sure to be a popular choice with Downtown types.
Festival City
Here’s a trip to Festival City that won’t leave you in Ikea-inspired tears. The shots above are from the end of the Dubai Fitness Challenge earlier in November, but we’re thinking that was just a warm-up. Timing TBC.
Global Village
Fireworks go off every Thursday and Friday here, so you know they’ve had some practise. Chances are they’ll be turning things up a bit for National Day, though. Expect to see sparks fly from 9pm.
To get to Global Village, take Exit 37, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Dubai. Open 4pm to 12am Saturday to Wednesday, 4pm to 1am Thursday, Friday, and public holidays. Mondays are dedicated to families and ladies only and it’s Dhs15 to get in. Kids under 3 and seniors over 65 are free.
