Featuring a very tempting stopover.

Whether you’re a New Zealander planning a trip home, or just someone with an adventurous spirit, this latest from Emirates is great news.

The Dubai-based airline will be adding another route to Auckland, New Zealand’s biggest city, as of June 14. And even better? It goes via Bali.

The new route will be Emirates’ third daily flight to New Zealand. It joins a direct flight to Auckland and a route to Christchurch, in the country’s South Island, via Sydney, Australia.

Sir Tim Clark, the airline’s president, told The National there was strong demand for seats to both Bali and Auckland.

“We are confident that our year-round service between Auckland and Bali will be well received by our customers, not only in New Zealand and Indonesia, but also from our global network particularly from markets like the UK, Europe and the Middle East,” he said.

The direct flight between Auckland and Dubai is one of the world’s longest, at 16 hours, so we’re thinking the opportunity to stretch your legs on a tropical beach will be welcomed by passengers.

It will also act as a connection for travellers heading to and from Europe. We’re planning our multi-stop world tours already.
