We’d call that a lifetime achievement.
Regular readers of Emirates Woman will be familiar with our love of Elie Saab. Whether he’s dressing Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong’o or Fan Bingbing, the Lebanese designer knows how to make the most beautiful women in the world look their best.
We’re not alone in our admiration for him, either. Saab has just been honoured with a Lebanese postage stamp bearing his face.

It’s a well-deserved honour, if you ask us. Saab is one of fashion’s biggest names in the Middle East and worldwide, famed for his mastery of silhouette and fit.
Born in Damour in 1964, Saab started his career designing wedding gowns. In 2002, he became the first Lebanese designer to dress an Oscar winner, when Halle Berry took home the Best Actress award for her role in Monster’s Ball.
Since then, he’s dressed everyone from the aforementioned Jolie, to Selena Gomez and Jane Fonda. He’s proved that his name belongs among fashion’s very best.
If this was us, we’d be framing a sheet of these stamps. Who else can say their face is on postage?
