According to a new report, the standard in Dubai schools has been on the rise since 2008. In fact, 61 per cent of the region’s schools were classed as ‘good’ or higher.
The findings were announced after the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) released the 2015-2016 School Inspection Key Findings report. This report ranks private schools in the emirate and grades them.
The rankings of Dubai schools improved, jumping up by eight per cent. However, not all schools saw an improvement – the report revealed five schools saw a decline in their overall performance.
Out of the schools inspected 28 schools improved their overall rating, with 16 rated ‘outstanding, 13 ‘very good’, 57 ‘good’ and 56 ‘acceptable’.
The report revealed the trends in education in Dubai. It revealed that 90 cent of students attend private school – there are 173 private schools in the region, attended by a total of 265,299 pupils.
The report also stated: “[The inspection] presents a very positive picture in which 28 schools improved their overall rating, with five declining. As a result of this improvement, 61 per cent of students are now in schools that offer a good or better quality of education, as compared to 30 per cent in 2008-2009.”
Also, revealed was the most popular curriculum. The range offered by Dubai private schools has been widening year after year. Parents are now able to consider any of the 17 different curricula for their children’s education.
The majority of students attending schools that have adopted a French, IB (International Baccalaureate), UK or Indian curriculum are in schools judged to be good or better overall.
