Pass the popcorn, please.
As temperatures in the UAE continue to climb, our lives are shifting indoors.
But one of the upsides of being forced inside for the hotter months is that it provides the perfect excuse to head to the cinema. And luckily, the big production houses in Hollywood always have plenty of new releases lined up for us during the summer break.
Since we will be spending so much time at the movies, we might as well make an occasion of it. To help us do just that, Reel Cinemas in The Dubai Mall will soon be introducing Platinum Movie Suites which they say will offer “a truly VIP-style cinema experience.”

Just how luxe are we talking? Before the movie even begins, those who purchase a ticket for the Platinum Movie Suite will have access to a dedicated lounge outside the theatre where they can wait until it’s time to go in.
The suite will boast pod-style seats that recline 140 degrees and have broad armrests – you’ll never have to jostle for space with the person seated next to you.
As for snacks, Reel Cinemas says Platinum Movie Suites guests will indulge in “five-star gourmet choices”, which are probably more classy than the caramel popcorn we always binge on.
Of course, you won’t need to get up from your seat to help yourself to those snacks. There will be a call button located at your seat which will summon a personal butler to deliver the food right to your seat.
With complimentary pillows and blankets too, it sounds like you’ll have to do your best to resist the urge to get some shut-eye during the movie.
There’s no word on the pricing of the tickets yet, or when exactly the service will be rolling out, except that it will be sometime soon. We’ll be the first ones in line.
