If tragedy, romance and glamour is your scene, look no further…
We love a night at the ballet. The costumes, the music, the whole sense of occasion – there’s a lot to enjoy, and it’s a great excuse to get dressed up.
So it’s very exciting to hear that Dubai Opera will be home to Swan Lake for six shows next October.

Performed by the Houston Ballet with accompaniment from a live orchestra, Swan Lake is one of the world’s most beloved ballets. It follows the story of Odette, a princess transformed into a swan by a curse. Based on Russian folk tales, the story doesn’t have a happy ending, but it’s beautiful regardless.
First performed in Moscow in 1877, Swan Lake was composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It wasn’t an immediate success, but an 1895 revival in St Petersburg set the ballet up for its iconic status.
The Houston Ballet’s production is inspired by John William Waterhouse’s painting The Lady of Shalott, and promises to be fresh and vibrant.
Featuring 59 dancers, the company is often on the road. Their Dubai performance will follow showings in London, Moscow, Spain, Paris, Australia, Germany, Canada, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C.
